What is a PLC?

PLCs are teams with a shared purpose who learn from one another and create the momentum that drives improvement. At Holmen, PLCs emphasize learning over teaching and use collaboration to improve results for students.

1) Focus on Learning

Clarify essential outcomes, evidence of learning, and timely supports/enrichments.

2) Collaboration

Work interdependently in teams to plan, assess, and respond to student needs.

3) Results

Use evidence of learning to improve practice and raise achievement.

  • Publish agenda with outcomes in advance.
  • Use common assessments and bring evidence of learning.
  • Document commitments, interventions, and extensions.
  • Close with next steps, owners, and date/time.
