Attendance
Attendance
Promoting consistent attendance, engagement, and student well-being.
Consistent school attendance is one of the best indicators of student engagement and learning, but also of family and child well-being. Regular school attendance leads to improved academic, economic, health, and relational outcomes over a child’s lifetime. When students miss school, their absence can lead to social isolation, anxiety, and loneliness – and for those with existing mental health challenges – deepen their struggles.

Reporting Absences
If there is a need for a student to be absent from school, parents/guardians are asked to notify the school prior to the absence (for example: family trips, funerals, religious commitments, scheduled medical absences) or on the day of the absence (for illness or emergencies) stating the reason for the absence.
When children are absent, parents/guardians assume full responsibility for their activities. It is the responsibility of the principal or designee to determine whether the absence is excused (illness, physician’s note, religious holiday) or unexcused/truant (unverified illness beyond 10 days, skipping, tardiness without excuse).
If you have further questions or concerns, please contact your child’s building principal or the Executive Director of Student Services, Jill Mason.
