4K Information
Welcome to Holmen Public Preschool and Four-Year-Old Kindergarten.
About 4K
Four-Year-Old Kindergarten, also known as 4K, is a half-day program available to children in the School District of Holmen who turn four years old by September 1 of the year they enroll. 4K is a one-year program students attend the year before Kindergarten. The School District of Holmen does not offer early entrance into 4K.
Program Times
AM Session: 8:30–11:00 a.m.
PM Session: 1:00–3:30 p.m.
Elementary Schools
4K is offered at Evergreen, Prairie View, Sand Lake, and Viking Elementary Schools.
Home School Placement
A student’s home school is determined by residential address. In some cases, childcare location may impact 4K placement.
Enrollment Information
Resident families are encouraged to begin the enrollment process online through the School District of Holmen website. Click the “Enroll a Student” button to get started.
If you need access to a computer, please stop by the Frederic D. Frick Administrative Center, located at 1019 McHugh Road.
What You Need to Enroll
- Verification of residency, such as a driver’s license, state-issued photo ID, utility bill, lease/rental agreement, or property tax bill
- Immunization records for the child being enrolled
- Birth certificate for the child being enrolled
Transportation & Childcare
The district’s goal is for students to attend their home school. However, some 4K students may need childcare at a location within district boundaries that is different from their home address. In those cases, the district may assign the child to attend 4K at the school in the boundary where the pick-up and drop-off address is located.
Please note: The district does not provide transportation to care providers outside of School District of Holmen boundaries.
Open Enrollment
Families who do not live in the School District of Holmen may apply through Wisconsin’s interdistrict public school Open Enrollment program.
Parents should apply to the non-resident district where they would like their child to attend. For more information, visit the Wisconsin DPI Open Enrollment website.
