The Highly Sensitive Person
The official website of Dr. Elaine Aron, the foundational clinical psychologist who researched and named the temperament trait of High Sensitivity in 1991. SPS is a trait found in 20-30% of the population.
- This trait is often misunderstood as shyness or introversion, though it is not the same thing.
- Sensitivity is valued differently in different cultures.
- There are as many highly sensitive men as women, though men may be less likely to show it openly.
Sensitive Strengths
Created by April Snow, a licensed psychotherapist, author, consultant, and podcast host in the San Francisco Bay Area. She specializes in working with highly sensitive people to help calm overwhelm, anxiety, and self-doubt so their innate strengths can shine through.
April has written books, offers several helpful free resources on her site, and launched the podcast Sensitive Stories in 2024.
