Middle School Summer School 2026

We are excited to offer a variety of enrichment opportunities for students entering Grades 6–8. Summer school is a great way for students to explore interests, try something new, stay active, and continue learning in a fun and engaging environment.

Program Overview

Students will have the opportunity to build a personalized summer experience through a wide range of enrichment courses. Whether they enjoy writing, music, athletics, creative thinking, STEM, games, marketing, or the outdoors, there is something for everyone.

Students should select three courses during registration. Students will rotate between classes throughout the day.

Important: If selecting Outdoor/Fishing Science, students should only select that course, since they will remain together as a group for all three periods.

  • Registration Window: March 24 – April 10, 2026

To ensure your student’s summer school registration is complete, please verify the information within the Infinite Campus Parent Portal under Activity Registration > Upcoming.

This section will display the status of your student’s registration, indicating whether it is fully completed or requires further action.

If the registration is incomplete, please select the application and complete the form.

Important Details

  • Students should register with their family and choose three courses.
  • Students will rotate between classes throughout the day.
  • Outdoor/Fishing Science should be selected as the student’s only choice because that group stays together for all three periods.
  • Final student schedules will be shared in June.

Transportation & TRP Information

  • Transportation is available upon request within district boundaries.
  • Class times are aligned with Three Rivers Performance (TRP) so students can participate in both programs.
  • If a student participates in both programs, families will need to arrange transportation between locations by walking, biking, or pickup.

Three Rivers Performance Sessions

TRP Performance Registration will open on March 24. Sessions run from June 8 – August 13. All sessions are in-person.

Daily Schedule

Below is the daily Middle School Summer School schedule.

Activity Time Details
Drop Off 7:30 – 8:00 a.m. Enter the building and wait in the commons.
Period 1 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. First class period.
Period 2 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Second class period.
Breakfast 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. Breakfast break.
Period 3 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Third class period.
Dismissal 11:30 a.m. Students dismissed for the day.

Explore the course descriptions with your student and decide which classes match their interests.

2. Register Online

Complete registration through your Infinite Campus Portal during the registration window.

3. Confirm Registration Status

After registering, check Activity Registration > Upcoming in Infinite Campus to make sure your student’s registration shows as complete.

Course Offerings

Board/Card Games

Students will explore a wide variety of classic and modern card games, along with strategy-based board games that challenge the mind and spark creativity. Through games involving critical thinking, strategy, teamwork, and a little friendly deception, students will sharpen problem-solving and communication skills while discovering new ways to play and think strategically.

STEM Meets Art

Using materials and challenges inspired by the world-renowned Odyssey of the Mind program, students will dive into hands-on creative problem-solving. Teams will tackle “super problems” that blend engineering, theater, imagination, and teamwork. This course is ideal for students who love to build, perform, invent, and think outside the box.

Creative Writing – Story Secrets: Unlock You

This creative writing enrichment course helps students explore storytelling through character development, plot construction, and formats such as short stories, poetry, and graphic narratives. Students will build skills in idea generation, organization, and composition while discovering their unique voice in a safe and respectful environment where sharing is always optional.

Poetry is Life

Poetry is everywhere—from books and novels in verse to favorite songs and everyday moments. In this class, students will read poems, write poems, decorate poems, and may even perform poems. Students will create personal poetry journals filled with their own work and favorite pieces from other poets, ending the class with a Poetry Jam.

Pin Pals: A Bowling Adventure

This active enrichment course introduces students to bowling fundamentals in a supportive, inclusive environment. Students will learn skills such as selecting the right ball, scoring, lane etiquette, balance, coordination, strategy, and sportsmanship. The course is designed for all middle school students regardless of physical ability or previous experience.

Fun Think – Creative Problem Solving

Students will use imagination and a “toolbox” of creativity strategies to solve a variety of daily challenges. This course is built around the idea that creativity can be learned and strengthened, helping students become more innovative thinkers who are ready to solve real-world problems.

Marketing Launch Lab: Beverage Edition

Design. Create. Pitch. The Ultimate Summer Marketing Challenge!

Welcome to The Marketing Launch Lab, where students become creators, designers, and entrepreneurs. In this marketing and technology focused summer school course, students will dive into a creative adventure to build their own beverage shop business and brand from scratch and compete in a fun marketing challenge.

The course blends creativity, marketing, idea generation, product development, entrepreneurship, storytelling, design thinking, and technology together using Adobe Express as the primary creation tool.

  • Invent a fictional beverage shop brand such as a coffee, soda, boba, or lemonade shop
  • Develop a product line with signature drinks and even bring one to life
  • Use Adobe Express to design logos, packaging, and promotional materials
  • Create videos, animations, and social media content
  • Build a final marketing campaign
  • Pitch the idea in a Shark Tank-style presentation

This class is perfect for students who love creativity, branding, business ideas, and hands-on digital design.

Summer Choir

Middle school singers can stay in vocal shape this summer while building confidence, strengthening sight-reading skills, and continuing to grow as musicians. Students will have opportunities for both individual and group practice in a fun and encouraging environment.

Volleyball

This volleyball camp with a twist starts each session with a challenge focused on cooperation, strategy, teamwork, and developing a competitive edge. Students will then learn, practice, and refine volleyball fundamentals before finishing with games that bring the drills and skills together. Open to all students who want to improve while having fun.

Soccer

Students will learn the ins and outs of soccer, including positions, strategy, and skills development. The course will also include watching and discussing soccer games, along with active participation in soccer-style games and skill-building activities.

Football

HMS Football Skills & Drills is a non-contact course focused on developing football fundamentals in a safe and active setting. Students will work on speed, agility, throwing, catching, route running, defensive footwork, and teamwork through structured drills and flag-style games. No prior experience is required.

Track & Field

Students will learn the basics of track and field from Holmen varsity athletes and coaches. Emphasis will be placed on speed development while introducing students to individual event areas such as sprints, hurdles, relays, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, and discus.

Outdoor/Fishing Science

***If you sign up for this, you will go through each class and they are a week long. You will rotate with the group and attend one of the classes for a week.

If you have a passion for nature, the outdoors, and fishing then this is the class for you. Paracord bracelet building, nature art, building your own fishing lures, learning to cast, and even going fishing are just a few of the many activities that you will do in this class.

If we have a successful fishing trip, we will even enjoy a fresh fish fry from your catches. Along with fishing, students will be enrolled in our other outdoor education classes involving outdoor activities and survival skills.

Each week students will be in the outdoor education science class and then rotate the next week.
