Welcome to PTO
Welcome back Prairie View families for what is sure to be another great year for staff and students. Registration was a huge success once again! Thank you to our volunteers! Without you we could not have been able to host our PTO table, Scrip sales, spirit wear, assist with LifeTouch photography and showcase our Otis Spunkmeyer/Club’s Choice fall fundraiser.
For those of you new to Prairie View, you may be wondering what the PTO actually does. The PTO is a collaboration of parents and staff working to make Prairie View a better school for all students. Last year the PTO was able to purchase Ga-ga ball pits for both playgrounds as well as additional playground equipment. We also funded the Opera for the Young assembly and supplies for our annual end of the year Field Day. We made donations towards the 5th grade Bash, Family Literacy night, and Junior Achievement to name a few. The PTO gave out over $10,000 to classroom teachers, and specials such as guidance, TAG, LMC, ESL, Special Education, food service and the nurse’s office. We’d like to invite everyone to join us for our September meeting where we will discuss this year’s budget and our goals for the PTO. We meet the 2nd Thursday of every month at 6:30pm inside Prairie View. Child care is available.
At registration we heard from several families that making a time commitment at meetings was not possible. We realize families are busy and hope that every family can find their own way to help out our organization if they so desire. The great news is there are so many ways for families to help.
Scrip purchase: This is probably the EASIEST way to help the PTO that requires no time commitment or funding. Scrip cards are simply regular gift cards. By purchasing these cards from the PTO a portion of the sales amount will go to the PTO. For example, Culvers offers 10% back on all card sales. If you purchase a $10 scrip gift card, $1 automatically comes back to the PTO to help with program funding. Use Scrip cards not only as gifts, but more importantly for everyday shopping; groceries, gas, household items, clothes. Scrip can be purchased in the school office daily, or print an order form from the PTO webpage and send it to school with your child. The PTO will fill the order ASAP and return it with your child, or hold the cards in the office until you can pick them up.
If the PTO can grow its Scrip program we hope to end all other fundraisers (not including our annual Rodeo on the Prairie). Our hope is that with families regularly purchasing Scrip throughout the year that our income will be sufficient to cover our normal expenditures.

Painless fundraisers (Kwik Trip milk caps and glazer ovals, Box Tops 4 Education, aluminum can pop tops).
Volunteer time throughout the year to help with Scrip sales, family night organization and event prep, parent-teacher conferences, and our biggest need for volunteers comes during our annual rodeo at the end of the year. We have numerous committees and subcommittees created for various events and would welcome any help throughout the year.
We have additional information about the PTO and volunteer opportunities on our webpage. You can find it by going to the Prairie View Elementary page and clicking the Parent Tab. You can also LIKE us on Facebook: Prairie View Elementary PTO-Holmen, WI.
