My name is Dana Gullicksrud and I am a Speech Language Pathologist at Evergreen Elementary. I have worked in the School District of Holmen since 2007 and I previously worked in the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District for 19 years. My family moved around the country when I was a child but settled in Eau Claire, WI, which I consider my hometown. I attended UW-Eau Claire and earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders and a Master's degree in Communicative Disorders.
I moved to Onalaska with my husband, Barry, in 1988. We have three children, Aubriana, Danica, and Keaton.
What is a Speech Language Pathologist?
Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), sometimes called speech therapists, assess, diagnose, treat and help to prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing and fluency.
Speech-language pathologists work with people who cannot produce speech sounds or cannot produce them clearly; those with speech rhythm and fluency problems, such as stuttering; people with voice disorders, such as inappropriate pitch or harsh voice; those with problems understanding and producing language; and those with cognitive communication impairments, such as attention, memory or problem-solving disorders. They also work with people who have swallowing difficulties.
